"蕴含爱情的风景,
何时都是美丽的。
不过,并非因为是美丽的爱情,
而一直都是幸福的。
因为爱情,一直有幸福和悲伤,
这两种面容。
~ Kim Yoon Hee (Love Rain, episode 3)

well, the quote sounded much prettier in korean and perhaps would look better if typed in english but somehow i felt that the chinese characters above represented the meanings better..

i don't know why but this quote really captivated me when i first heard it in the show. or maybe it's just because Yoona, who acted as Kim Yoon Hee in Love Rain sounded really good here. i kept replaying it again and again. anyway, the above just means: the scenery with love is always beautiful. however, just because love is beautiful, does not mean that it is always happy. reason being love always has two different faces of sadness and happiness.

anyway, Love Rain has got me looking at love with a different perspective recently. i'm probably a really boring person and too much a suck-up for romance but i really envy the kind of love people had in the past. the mildly sweet kind.. one that is full of difficulties to be overcome together. separations.. but overwhelming happiness when the two lovebirds get back together that makes all the efforts and tough times worthwhile. you really don't see this kind of thing happening these days anymore. separation in today's terms just means break-ups or 'cooling offs' and well getting back together.. is just getting back together. and then god knows what will happen a few days later.

i think people reading this will probably think i'm mad. like i should probably just time travel back to the early days and live there for good. i wish i could. watching Love Rain has got me wondering: if that kind of love can't be experienced anymore, then what good is it experiencing love at all? is love even still love? i don't think you'll think i'm making sense here but that's just how i feel.

cheesy as it sounds, i still believe in terms like 'fate', 'destiny' and 'soulmate' or simply, '缘分'. this shouldn't be a surprise to you if you know that i'm a faithful believer of horoscopes. in the 1970s segment of Love Rain, the male lead fell in love with the female lead in just three seconds. most would probably see this as 'love at first sight', but i saw it as '恋の予感' (koi no yokan), also known as premonition of love, a beautiful term which i chanced upon recently. you might not be able to see the difference between the former and the latter but the former focuses more on instant attraction, mostly as a result of the appeal and first impression but not really feeling it yet while the latter has the essence of falling into it that very moment and even foreseeing or hoping for more to be happening in future as the feelings increase gradually. i believe that's how the male lead felt.

well, i do understand that there's little point in analysing this whole thing because this kind of thing probably would never happen in real life (yes i'm a huge believer of those cheesy stuff AND a pessimistic person at the same time. i don't care if they contradict each other) but i just wanna say that i think the three-seconds love scene is really beautiful and amazing, and i'm not talking about the drama itself either. it's just that.. what i would give to be able to feel and love like that.. even if it's gonna be a one-sided love..

alright, i've finally got them all out and now i feel better. i've typed longer than i should and now i must get back to what i'm supposed to be doing already. oh but before that, let me just say one more thing,

love is really a strange thing.
