things we didn't know - it's too much
date: Sunday, September 18, 2011
went to Kim's Family Korean Restaurant for dinner after we left Waseda Shibuya since liang insisted that she saw it a few stops before the school. and she was right! we've heard of this famous restaurant before but since the only branch that we knew of was somewhere in bukit timah, we've never thought of trying it out. so apparently they have a branch in clementi as well!
waited one for hour before the opening time, 5.30pm and killed time by shopping at.. was it West Coast Plaza shopping centre? before entering the restaurant. we were like really hungry by then! we ordered this chicken bulgogi set which would automatically be accompanied by side dishes + soybean soup and comes with a rice ($15 altogether), a beancurd spicy soup which comes with a rice ($15) and a kimchi-jeon ie kimchi pancake ($14).
did we regret ordering so much?
the side dishes came and we were in serious shock. it didn't look that much in the menu's pictures!
there was this tv that was showing some 2010 korean award show i think. there were a lot of performances by a lot of idol groups! (jo i bet if you're reading this now you would be thinking, 'i should ask xiuzhen to bring me there next time!' right right? XD)

the soups came! the one on the left came first and all along we thought it was the beancurd spicy soup when we were drinking it. turned out it was actually the soybean soup which we had totally forgotten about. we totally didn't notice that until the second pot came, which was the real deal.

the kimchi-jeon was not bad too, and it was even crispy when we ate it hot. but towards the bad it got a little sian. and part of it was really sour due to the kimchi! i guess this is what economists would call diminishing marginal utility? right? :D
does this look like a table for two??? (this was taken at 5.45pm)

the picture on the left was taken at 6.33pm. our stomachs were like going to burst from all the eating but we tried to clear as much food as possible cos i was afraid there will be surcharge for food wastage plus, to be frank, it's really quite wasteful if we don't try our best to finish them. but it was especially hard to finish the side dishes cos they were more on the salty side and we didn't have rice to go with them anymore. =/

the picture on the right was taken at 6.45pm and you can even see the dishes being stacked up. i did so in order to create the image that 'there's lesser food left' hahaha! liang thought it was ridiculous cos the mass of food didn't change at all! especially when i was dumping some food into the soup in an attempt to hide them heheh!
have to say the restaurant was really considerate in a sense that they provided this plum tea drink and oranges after the meal to help ease digestion i guess. but seriously, the plum tea really tasted like diluted cough syrup when we tasted it. i had to ask the waiter for the name of the drink! when i found out it was plum tea, it make the drinking process a lot easier. oh and the oranges were sweet! (:
and of cos, how can we only take pictures of the food?

i know i'll visit this place again soon. i have this uncanny feeling that i will. (:
morale of the story: NEVER order so much food again!p/s: it seriously felt like we were at a 大胃王 tournament or something when we were at the restaurant!
