-8 July 2011-

met up with liang, pinyi, nana and sze hwei at ws ntuc to get food for chalet.

debated madly over what to buy, what not to buy, too expensive, not expensive, necessary, not necessary.. yea you can imagine the rahrah.

finally settled and bought the stuff and headed to our chalet to check in!

(forgot to take a picture of it)

i immediately went to check out the rooms with liangying like excited little kids who have just moved into a new house. the feeling of nolstalgia came to me right away cos we have stayed in that very same house during 4e2 chalet the other time.

played mahjong a while until one by one, more people arrived. so we got on to preparing dinner.

now cooking time was epic.

this was the menu for first night's dinner:
  • chicken curry (IC: pin yi)
  • ham-egg omelette (IC: me!)
  • cabbage with mock abalone (IC: sze hwei)
despite having being doubted by 90% of the people in the house regarding my cooking skills, i'm actually quite confident about my omelette! it being one of my two specialties. (the other one's maggie.) i can really cook up a nice, bright yellow, semi-circle egg omelette!

all things went well, me chopping the onion, cutting up the picnic ham into little squares and about to put the remaining 3 pieces of ham away until liting and pinyi said,
"cut up the remaining pieces too."
my wrongest decision was to listen to them. T.T

because despite using 6 eggs (it was dinner for 8 people, i think) the ham looked like they were going to overflow in the batter. so i had to add in another 2 eggs. a joke which everyone couldn't stop teasing me about. and speaking of which,

what's wrong with removing the white slime from egg yolk??????

i started picking off the egg slime from the egg one by one. and liangying got so pekcek looking at me doing that because she insisted on wanting to be the one cracking the eggs and so she had to wait for me to finish the picking before she can crack another one into the bowl.

now i just don't get why everyone is so amused/ critical/ frustrated with me doing this.

i mean i was just trying to be health-conscious. the white slime increases the cholesterol content of the egg. mama told me this. fine, even if she's wrong,

don't you think the white slime and blood bits are just gross? =S

anyway, i got my way and won my right to pick the white slime of the eggs since the omelette's MY dish after all! (:

now the failed part came when i tried to flip the egg to fold into a nice omelette. the act completely failed because it just couldn't support the weight of the ham on it. decided to try again but the egg still broke.

so fine, we can only use our last resort.

to cook scramble eggs. -.-

and ta-dah! this was the finished product!

and the dish tasted pretty good too!

okay fine, the truth is you can't go wrong with eggs anyway.

anyway, i'm NOT the only epic one.

the curry team wasn't doing awesome either cos they were like arguing over which ingredients to put in first. and the abundant use of spices made us start to cough and sneeze in the kitchen.

oh and there's the other team which i'll call the hilarious dishwasher team. nana and liangying, particularly with liangying as the leader was so obsessed with the cleanliness level of the cups, plates, bowls, utensils, pots, wok and table cloth (yes even table cloth). whatever could be sterilised MUST be sterilised with hot water over and over again and whatever could be washed MUST be washed over and over again.

anyway, dinner was great as you can see from the picture even with the chaos in the kitchen earlier on and we finished everything except the curry (as usual).

played Saboteur at night with the peeps and i must say it's a really really good game. this game kept us peeps entertained for 3 good days at the chalet. i must say that this is probably wei jie's wisest move ever, having bought the card game. liang has told me about the game a few times and i've always wanted to try it out but we couldn't because it requires at least 3 players. and it doesn't seem like wei jie will want to play with us either, since he spends most of his time in his bedroom playing his computer.

movie marathon started at around 1am. the guys wanted to watch Jackass but less than ten minutes into the movie the girls were already getting bored cos it's just a crude movie about silly guys doing silly pranks and the other guys laughing at the poor victim's misfortune. guess the guys finally got the hint from our expressions and body language and decided to select another movie instead.

the 'another' movie was Shutter Island and i have to admit the title wasn't appealing to me at first as i thought it was a horror movie. but it's actually a psychological thriller so i decided to go with the decision. not that i have a choice, majority ALWAYS rules. it's actually pretty good. i was totally intrigued by the plot, though at times i would still cover my eyes when 'unappealing' scenes showed up. the movie's pretty similar to Inception i realised. but Inception's much better because it doesn't have any gory scenes and the effects were much cooler. (:

the movie ended at near 4.30pm and we debated AGAIN on the next movie to watch. i couldn't help but start to demand for a light-hearted one to erase gory images in my mind. sze hwei recommended Liar Liar starring Jim Carey but with pinyi's objection because he has already watched the movie before. (not to mention he has watched Shutter Island too) but he gave in in the end for my benefit i guess. thanks! it was much appreciated. (:

finally fell asleep after the movie at 7am in the morning. woke up at around 10am thanks to fabian's ringtone because jiasen was calling him to let him know that he's coming. didn't want to wake up cos the room was so cold and the mattress just feels like paradise. so i kept nua-ing on my bed despite sze hwei's and nana's constant calling and pulling to get me up.

i should have got up then.

i should have seen it coming then.

because, before i knew it, i was being rolled up in my mattress and fabian was sitting on top of the mattress to prevent me from climbing out. to make things worse, jiasen started ticking my feet.

what a torture!

cries of mercy were unheard as the rest were just enjoying the moment and laughing their heads off. nana and sze hwei included! :O

after much much effort, i was finally able to climb out of the sushi. -.-

what a great way to start day two. ):
