this may just be it

just had my bath. yes, at 2am. because today is such a hot day and i couldn't stand feeling so sticky.

decided i should start blogging some moments which i would really want to remember again in future..

so im gonna blog about this..

i just submitted my application form for the Teaching Attachment Programme at primary schools organised by the MOE.. results will be announced end november.. im so excited! but im really afraid they will reject me for my prelim results.. felt so pathetic filling in the blanks with Us..

i really hope at the very least they will read the section which they asked for i) your reasons for applying this teaching attachment and ii) the qualities i feel a good teacher should possess

i really put in my heart and soul plus time and effort to do this write-up.. and it's pretty good if i would say so myself.. i spent more than one hour on the application form!

"I have a passion for imparting my knowledge and leadership skills to those who are younger than me since I was a secondary school student. Perhaps it was my volunteering experience at CDAC's Supervised Homework Group (SHG) programme that made me realise that teaching is an enjoyable activity. The sense of achievement when a child has understood a concept or the solution to a problem after your patient teaching and when a child felt motivated and better after hearing your encouragement is invaluable. I have been fortunate to have excellent teachers to teach me in my 12 years of education and they have inspired me and shaped my thinking in one way or another. Hence, I hope to also be an inspiration to the younger generation. I believe this teaching attachment will enrich me and allow me to obtain useful skills for my future teaching experience.

A good teacher should be compassionate and impartial towards his or her students. This is especially so since all students come from different family backgrounds and have different levels of learning capabilities. This also implies that he or she must be patient and willing to go the distance to help the student, not only in academic areas but also to develop his character and stretch his potential. At the same time, he or she should be sensitive and observant towards the child's feelings and attitude as children in primary school tend to be temperamental and expressive. That said, a good teacher should be able to think and see things from a child's perspective to understand the child better. It is also important for a teacher to be creative in order to come up with meaningful and fun lesson outlines to make learning for the students fruitful and enjoyable."

p/s: the idea of teaching as a career is really starting to grow in my head..
