okay fine, i was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too tempted to come online and blog. but hey, at the same time im being nice okay?
anyway, shall make this post a real quick one.
okay. some details:
venue: robinsons (new wing) centrepoint lv 2
shift: 10am to 6pm/ 1pm to 9pm
department: ladies' shoes (90%-ly)
job scope: very BIG, includes promoting shoes, shoe chart, getting shoe boxes, housekeeping eg wiping the shelves. i sometimes even have to help voluntarily when the promoters of other brands are not there. (i'll explain why later)
brands under me: charlotte, marble ink, fs/ny (this three mainly) + ...
ur may start thinking "shoes?! eeyer..". i did so too. but really, it's alright and pretty easy. im proud, and glad to say that i've successfully sold ELEVEN pairs of shoes in just these 2 days. not bad for a newbie eh? (:
THE THING IS...
I DONT HAVE COMMISION PER PAIR! ):
that's bcos im not a promoter which is salary from brand company, im a SALES ASSOCIATE under ROBINSONS.
sobs. ):
but i still do my best to sell as many as i can luhh. im being paid for my job after all. and, time pass quicker when im busy too (:
and i think for a newbie im really considered not bad le lorr. ELEVEN shoes in 2 days lehh. u sell for me see. even this senior of mine also shocked to realise that im a first timer.
i think i'll be able to survive in my job pretty well lahh huh. at least that's what i hope so. (:
but, to all who are working or working in future in this kind of temp jobs, here's what i learn (which may be useful or not in some ways to ur i dunno, some are common sense laa) :
1. be sincere. just rmb that u are BEING PAID to do ur job (:
2. be THICK SKIN. i mean it. being soft and shy will get u NOWHERE.
3. be STREET SMART.
4. must have FAST REACTION and i mean very fast.
5. act like a know-it-all even if u dunno, NEVER tell customer dunno, NEVER tell customer i think so, say "i'll go and check just to be sure and get back to u later", then hurry up find someone to consult!
6. which is when this part comes in: HAVE GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH AS MANY AS YOU CAN. u nvr know when these 'new friends' or better, SENIORS, can be useful resources. when u get to know them, it's easier to approach them for help. in the working society, customers are just SECOND, colleagues are FIRST.
7. be OBSERVANT. in every area. whether is it the inter-relationships between ur colleagues and heads (btw, this is very important) or about the products u are selling, or customers' preferences.
8. and speaking of which, NEVER BE SHOCKED. bcos, it is very normal for crisises to happen. and if u are shocked, that's it, u will lose ur composure and the power to think to deal with the crisises. for example, dont be shock when u realise they throw u into a department or someth u know NOTHING of, dont have any product knowledge or no skills equipped at all. bcos, u are supposed to LEARN and FIND OUT more abt the products YOURSELF. thou they are seniors, chances that they have no time or lil time to teach u. unless u are working in small places laa.
and yesterday, i was putting back a box when i realised i pushed the box a lil too far and the boxes behind my column fell off the shelves and i was so stunned and i said "shit" (softly). i was so worried i hurt somebody at that alley. thankfully, no one was at that spot and this very nice aunty came over and help me to put the boxes back. thankfully the heads were not around.
9. MAKE FULL USE OF EVERY SECOND TO LEARN SOMETHING! (: yes. we are paid money alr but why not gain more knowledge ourselves? it may be useful in the future or even at the present too. do a lil homework if i have to. eg, i myself decided to check out conversion chart and use my cousins heels (she has a lot) to learn about heel inches at home. this can help me to answer any questions from customers swiftly without even approaching seniors for help. and makes u look more professional too. (:
10. but most importantly, HAVE FUN AND ENJOY! (:
and im really enjoying myself at this job right now. (:
p/s 1: i really like my short hair, thou ly say it's a lil tomboyish but i still like. (: it's really short. my previous long hair was literally chopped off.
p/s 2: liangying, maeve and joelin came to visit me when im at work after they celebrated szehwei's bday over lunch. and i was like surprised, but i had a feeling they would come anyway. (: btw. some malay staff find it hard to promounce my name so i just ask them to call me sus. this is the nick my clique gave me. the history's like this. xiuzhen > susan > suzanne> susana > susie > sus. i dunno how they did it too but oh well. it's just temporary.
p/s 3: this job is a damn good opportunity to help me shed off a few TONS.
p/s 4: BUT, ytd i had MACS, today i had LONG JOHN SILVER, im gonna gain more than what i shed off. but i cant find any decent food around here that's healthy yet cheap. and this is actually one of the few complaints about my job. ):
p/s 5: im experiencing lesser backaches and leg aches during my work alr. in fact, my backache
is more serious.
p/s 6: this post is getting wayyyyyy too long thou i wanted INITIALLY to keep it short. so im signing off now. buh bye! (:
